Emily and Kyle’s late September wedding day was an absolute dream!! I had been anxiously awaiting for this particular day to arrive because I was so excited to see my sweet couple at my all-time favorite venue in Charlottesville, King Family Vineyards! It was where my husband and I got married 4 years ago and it will forever hold a very special place in my heart.
I knew my sweet bride Emily from college but I really got to know her and Kyle when we met for their engagement session last October. They were just so easy and fun to be around. I really loved and appreciate how comfortable they were with me. I think such an important component of photographer and client relationships is trust! They knew whatever I directed them to do was for the best. Especially on the wedding day, that trust proved to be super important! When Emily arrived at the venue, the clouds unexpectedly opened up and we had quite a massive thunderstorm roll through. While in her dressing room, just minutes from being ready to step outside for her first look with Kyle, the power flickered on and off! I was tracking the storm on my phone and reassured everyone that we had plenty of spare time in the timeline to wait it out and was hopeful that soon the storm would pass and we’d be clear to head outside for portraits and their ceremony. I certainly am no weather girl, but my prediction proved to be correct and the storm passed just as quickly as it appeared. Not only that, but it left behind the most beautiful veil of clouds to allow for some of my absolute favorite outdoor portraits!
I think the unexpected weather only heightened Emily and Kyle’s anticipation to see one another so their first look was full of so much emotion. Kyle was completed taken aback by his beautiful bride and his reaction was so sweet. Emily and Kyle are expecting a precious baby girl later this year and seeing her sweet little bump made her even more beautiful in her wedding gown!
The day continued with so much ease as we got all their portraits finished up before their “golden hour” ceremony. Those mountain views are exactly why King Family Vineyards is as special as it is, especially at sunset. They couldn’t have chosen a more perfect time for friends and family to gather and witness these two become husband and wife. I loved listening to E + K exchange their wedding vows that evoked tears and laugher. It was hands down my favorite part of the day.
Emily and Kyle, I feel so blessed and grateful to have been there for you on your special day. Your love and bond is a beautiful thing to witness and I am beyond excited to see what adventures lay ahead for you two and baby Charlotte! Love you both!
